As early as 1998, McCarty demonstrated his confidence on stage when he was a runner-up in the Conan O’Brien College Band Search. In 2002, he performed at Gator Growl for a capacity crowd of 50,000 people when he opened for Sugar Ray. In 2005, McCarty was the Adult Vocalist Winner of Lou Perlman’s “Talent Rock” contest and was a finalist last year in the popular Rockstar Supernova television show.
