A straightahead hard rock band in the tradition of the MC5 or AC/DC, Honky Toast was a side project of Love Spit Love which included that band's guitarist Richard Fortus and drummer Frank Ferrer along with singer Eric J. Toast and bassist E.Z. Bake. Originally begun as a lark, the group quickly became the subject of considerable label interest, finally signing to 550 Music to release 1999's Whatcha Gonna Do Honky? ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
