Emily's Sassy Lime was a riot grrrl band from Southern California. The line-up featured Emily Ryan and sisters Wendy and Amy Yao, all of whom were still in high school when the band formed in 1994. The girls formed the group after attending a Bikini Kill/ Bratmobile show one night and befriending Bratmobile drummer Molly Neuman, who encouraged them to start making music. The band began making music by calling one another on the phone or often leaving parts of songs on each other's answering machines, which later progressed into them recording on a singalodeon--- a lo-fi recording machine.
