Born in France, Stephan grew up fascinated by music and electronics as he watched his father DJ'ing in local clubs in the 1970's. He moved to New-York in 1985, where he witnessed the birth of house music and played early for clubs like Nell's and Tunnel. Opting for a college education, he kept his D.J. activities strictly as a hobbie. After finishing college with a Finance degree in 1992, Stephan tried his hand at several trades, including advertising, restaurant management and international trade.
