Michael Hampton has been a lead guitarist, composer and musical director as well as a Rock 'n Roll Hall of fame inductee with the band George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic since 1974.
His debut performance at Landover MD was a substitute for original Funkadelic guitarist Eddie Hazel, however he firmly grabbed his position as a new star player in already a stadium-sell-out band. He was fresh out of high school when he caught the band member's attention at their after show party, where he played the well known solo "Maggot Brain" note for note.
