The Midwest Quiet is not internationally known. Their domestic presence is not approaching cult status. They've never been asked to open up for The Shins. And there are no collaborations planned with Justin Vernon. That song you heard in that Apple commercial? That wasn't them. Ask Sasha Frere-Jones who they are and note the look of bewilderment. They're not included on Pitchfork's "Bands to Watch in 2012." In fact, Pitchfork doesn't even publish such a list. And to the best of any researcher's knowledge, they've never been cited as an influence.
