Akiko Shikata is a Japanese neoclassical darkwave singer-songwriter, composer, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Many of her songs are progressive and feature elements common to medieval, celtic or oriental music. Her musical style, though largely in defiance of standard categorisation, can generally be defined either as neoclassical or folk with a deep tendency towards experimentation.
