Thorstein Bergman has written an array of folk ballads that have had a steady popularity since his debut in 1965. In particular the very emotional Om du nånsin kommer fram till Samarkand, which has become a standard in the Swedish folk ballad-genre and has been interpreted by several Swedish singers. Thorstein Bergman is also widely renowned for his interpretations of classical Swedish poets, such as Dan Andersson, Nils Ferlin, Emil Hagström, Helmer Grundström and Birger Norman.
